Pressure is on to create new productive woodlands in the north of England. The industry faces declining timber availability in the coming decades, just as Brexit and increasing demand for timber in the construction and energy markets offers opportunities unparalleled in recent times.
Productive Woodland Creation: Challenges and Solutions, jointly organised by the North of England Regional Groups of the Institute of Chartered Foresters and Confor, will feature speakers from across the UK and address the questions of what the level of demand is, where should these new woodlands be sited, how will the land be made available, where will the financing come from and what regulatory hurdles does the industry face, amongst others.
Delegates will be provided with essential insight into how to design and create productive woodlands which enjoy widespread support, whilst providing the essential feedstock for the timber industry.
Productive Woodland Creation: Challenges and Solutions will take place on Wednesday 18th October at Hexham Auction Mart and costs £25 per person (£10 ICF or Confor students). More details at http://www.charteredforesters.org/forestry-arboriculture-events/.
