Importantly, this project set out to find out:
- Are these sites surviving?
- Are these sites thriving?
and essentially,
To provide high quality advice for woodland creation, Cumbria Woodlands aimed to produce survey methods in which to measure, compare and report the quality of new creation sites.
The Survive and Thrive project produced:
-Survey techniques and protocol to establish the success of new/recent and established woodlands
-Recommendations for surveys of non-conventional new creation sites such as cluster/Miyawaki planting sites, hedgerow and parkland trees
-Recommendations for a protocol for sites that are found to be unsuccessful
-A continuous professional development strategy for the Cumbria Woodlands team.
This project was funded by Cumbria Woodlands as part of its organisation development.
