The #Species - Northwest and Southwest Rainforest Restoration project is a £2.6million multi-partnership project between Plantlife, Woodland Trust, Cumbria Wildlife Trust, Rusland Horizons, Cumbria Connect and Cumbria Woodlands and is a programme of Temperate Rainforest restoration and advice, with a whopping 580ha Rainforest aimed to be restored across both Cumbria and the Southwest.
The Cumbrian Rainforest Project is a programme of outreach and engagement events and activities to inspire high quality woodland management and the wider stewardship of the temperate rainforests of Cumbria.
What we are doing
- A series of ‘walk and talk' events looking at Temperate Rainforest topics and site visits
- Demonstration events for professionals and those eager to learn more
- Knowledge-sharing webinars
- Presence at popular community shows
- Directly support small woodland owners to manage woodlands in the temperate rainforest zone by providing guidance and targeted next-steps advice.
Outcomes
Increase the quality of knowledge, advice and management of Cumbria’s temperate rainforest landscape.
