A New Era For Training In The Forestry Sector

Cumbria Woodlands are very excited to announce the launch of our brand new online learning platform Canopy Learning. Building on the success of our previous online courses we are bringing it all together in one place for individuals and organisations to access the highest quality training.

"This is a new era for training in the forestry sector, we've dabbled in distance learning but it's time to up our game. Canopy learning represents a step-change in how we approach training and how we can deliver quality education at scale"

Neville Elstone (Director, Cumbria Woodlands)

"Canopy Learning means we can get the right training directly to the right people – it’s a game-changer for us and everyone in the forestry and allied sectors can benefit from it. Even better, all the courses we currently have on there are completely free!"

Carrie Hedges (Cumbria Woodlands)

"Canopy Learning enables learners, whether new to forestry or seasoned professionals, to continue their learning through self-paced study, with Cumbria Woodlands on-hand to support them through the process"

Anne Frankland (Deputy Director, Cumbria Woodlands)

"The Ancient Woodland Restoration courses and materials on Canopy Learning provide an essential resource for everybody involved in the management of woodlands. Ancient Woodlands are a precious and limited habitat and making the right decisions regarding their restoration is crucial. Canopy Learning supports making those right decisions by sharing the knowledge of experienced forest managers and woodland owner"

More Information

With trees and woodlands so high on the political agenda, it is critical that organisations, woodland owners and professionals have access to training. Using a mixture of video, audio and written resources, Canopy Learning creates a thoroughly engaging and immersive learning experience, leveraging the very best that online learning can offer.

We have partnered with organisations to create training courses that are current, accessible and at the cutting edge of woodland research. Working with the Woodland Trust we have developed an Ancient Woodland Restoration course aimed at both professionals looking to increase their knowledge and also for those in higher education settings.

Best of all, many of the courses currently available are currently FREE.
