Forestry Commision announce increase to funding for woodland creation.

Forestry Commission has announced increases to funding under the England Woodland Creation Offer (EWCO), making woodland creation even more appealing to landowners.

Cumbria Woodlands, as well as others, has been advocating for increasing the EWCO payments for some time now. Cumbria Woodlands has been integral to this process, ensuring landowners can get the best offers for woodlands.

Payments for Standard Cost Items have increased, for example:

  • The payment for the supply and planting of a tree has increased from £1.60/tree to £1.72/tree
  • The supplement for use of individual tree shelters has increased from £2.00 to £2.43
  • The payment for deer fencing has increased from £9.00/m to £10.27/m

Maintenance payments have also increased from £300/ha to £350/ha per year for ten years.
