Put Down Roots Campaign Launched

Defra has today launched their new Put Down Roots Campaign, encouraging landowners and farmer to engage with woodland creation.

Summary-

  • New drive to encourage farmers and landowners to create new woodland as a financial and environmentally rewarding option
  • Up to £10,000+ per hectare through grants and free specialist advice available to help farmers diversify their business
  • Follows publication of the England Trees Action Plan, which committed to treble tree planting rates by the end of Parliament

The campaign places a financial incentive at the centre of the offer and encourages landowners to consider woodland creation as a viable option for their land. The campaign highlights EWCO grants but also signposts to other FC grant options and regional funding such as the Community Forests.
